It uses a combination of specialized satellites and ground-based stations to send correction signals to GPS receivers, as well as providing integrity information for each satellite's signal, equivalent or better than RAIM (receiver autonomous integrity monitoring), thereby improving the accuracy of the GPS signal by approximately 5 times.
